This is a very powerful hallucinogenic and analgesic. It is commonly used by the shamans or "Taitas" in the Andes, and its use is as old as the Cañaris and Incas. In the tomb of "El Señor de Sipán", there were evidences of the use of this plant.

Hi guilhermeam80. When I have the taxonomic keys to identify the plants, I use them and follow them up until I get the right identity. If I don´t have keys for the genus, I try to post the pictures to Noah or the many botany groups that I belong to. For some plants, in the Andes, I know them very well and I am able to identify them easily, but I always prefer to identify beetles ... ;)
