Ptilidium californicum


Plants very small, red to yellow gold, metallic sheen; Leaves very small <1mm; 3-4 lobed with ciliate teeth, oil bodies brown. Abundant sporophytes emerging.


Found on the bark of a silver fir (Abies amabalis) around 1500'.


I took the plant photo with my Iphone and a Bausch and Lomb 14x handlens.
