Moth Caterpillar

Description:

4 cm long & 3-4mm thick. Hairy caterpillar - (? pupates into a moth?) White in color.

Habitat:

Drops down from trees, hanging by a silky thread in mid-air. Seen at Phansad WildLife Sanctuary (PWLS).

Notes:

When crawls on the skin, causes intense itching for 1-2 hours. Known in local language (marathi) as 'Soorwantha'
