The average is 4-5 ft, but they can get up to 6 ft if plenty of food is available.

Do Black Racers get that long? I see them in my yard a lot and they are less than half that length

I only based it off of an ID by a local nature ranger who stated it was an Indigo

The white chin on this snake prevents it from being an Indigo. Also, Indigos have shiny scales and Racers have more matte scales. Racers are also known to eat other snakes. Neat find either way!
