The bees have golden yellow bands on their abdomen. On their head there are the large brown compound eyes, long antenna and golden yellow face.
On this particular occasion I saw two of these bees on this purple flowering creeper in my backyard, but only managed to get the one picture. The females nest underground, but the males do not.
