Hibiscus rosa-sinensis
Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Dainty White' is one of many trees, shrubs, and herbs species in the Hibiscus genus. Dainty White is a perennial and woody shrub with many white-petaled blossoms that grows up to 3 meters tall (National Parks, 2022). Each flower has five petals and a solitary bloom with a lengthy style. The serrated margins of this species' evergreen leaves can be found. Its shrub also grows tall and vigorously with many branches (National Parks, 2022). In the Philippines, this flowering plant species is known as "Gumamela".
Hibiscus species are members of the Malvaceae family and are endemic to warm temperate and tropical climates. For a long time, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is native to tropical Asia (Goldberg et al., 2017) and has been widely cultivated, especially in the Pacific islands, Japan, and China (Thulaja, 2005).
Hibiscus plants have been used as herbal remedies to treat cancer progression, cholesterol production, and hypertension as well as used for production of tea prepared from its roots, leaves, and flowers (Goldberg et al., 2017).
