Cannonball Jellyfish

Description:

Mostly harmless species that sometimes washes up on beaches in large numbers. It is shapes like half an egg and may be up to 7 inches in diameter. It may be bluish or yellowish with a brown boarder.

Habitat:

Cannonball jellyfish are unable to overcome the effects of winds and water currents and thus considered to be planktonic. They are typically found along coastlines, but enter bay mouths and estuaries on flood tides.
