Figeater beetle

Cotinis mutabilis

Description:

I'm pretty sure this is a fig scarab. Iridescent metallic green carapace, about the size of a ping-pong ball.

Habitat:

Found slowly stumbling along the sidewalk in urban west Los Angeles.

Notes:

It looked unwell, and its wings were sticking out but not moving at all.
