American Robin

Description:

The American Robin is about 23–28 centimeters (10–11 in) in length. The head may vary from black to a dark gray with white arcs around the eyes. The back is a dark gray-brown, the breast is red to red-orange.

Habitat:

Widely spread through many habitat types. A common forest and suburban dweller.

Our robins probably have an incomplete migration. I suspect our summering robins move further south while the birds that winter here are from a bit further north. Our wintering robins also tend to congregate in large, loose flocks and move to river bottoms, so we don't often see them in winter but they are around.
