Common Goldeneye (Drake)

Bucephala clangula

Description:

Dark iridescent green to black head with a round white spot on each cheek and a golden eyes. Upper body is black. Lower body is white from the breast, along the sides and bottom including the rump. Sides have black lines marking them about mid way down each side.

Habitat:

Lakes, ponds and rivers

Notes:

This species is related to the Bufflehead and Barrow's Goldeneye.
