Stonefly

Description:

At first glance looks like a winged termite or a mayfly. 6 legs. Wings cover entire body. Steel grey in colour.

Habitat:

At Village Kolakham; a remote, forested area on the Indo-Nepal border. This place is situated at an altitude of 1868m in the Kalimpong Hills of Darjeeling District, on the fringes of Neora Valley National Park.

Notes:

This area is a paradise for moths, we did not see too many other insects. Just a few species of butterflies, one sort of cockroach lookalike that people stamped on before I could intervene, a large cricket/katydid and this one.
