Pandion haliaetus
This osprey is nesting on a man-made platform that is out over the water. The nest is quite impressive and large. In fact, I see birds in the picture taking some of the sticks for their nests. Both male and female incubate the eggs for about 32-42 days. The female lays 2-4 eggs that are white with brown markings. Male and female have been known to mate for life.
This osprey was spotted on a platform out over the Chesapeake Bay at Downs Park (an Anne Arundel County park) in Pasadena, Maryland.
