Thryothorus ludovicianus
The Carolina Wren is deep rusty brown, but has a buff chest and belly. The long down curved bill is especially adapted for feeding on invertebrates, small vertebrates and some seeds. Note the white throat and white stripe above the eye. The Carolina Wren is similar to the Bewick’s Wren, but is heavier bodied, more buff underneath, and lacks the white spots on the outer tail feathers.

When we opened the door to the garage, two wrens flew in, then couldn't find their way out. They kept flying into the windows which don't open. We finally herded them back outside.

For a few years, our wrens built nests in our garage when we kept the side door propped open for our cat to come and go. Now Clancy is an old man and does not go out very much, so the wrens have lost their chance to use the garage.
