Crocodilefish

Cymbacephalus beauforti

Description:

Crocodile fish are related to scorpion and stone fish, and this particular one was about 1.5ft long. It was found at a depth of 21m (even though wikipedia says that its maximum depth is 12m). I saw a number of them while diving in Coron between 20 to 25m.

Habitat:

Coral Reef.

I can't find any information if their spines are poisonous.

Hi Mark.
I couldn't find any information on whether or not they have venomous spines, but I according to other divers I've spoken with, they are not. They use their camouflage to ambush prey.
