Southern Double Collared Sun Bird

Cinnyris Chalybeus

Description:

Smaller than the Greater Doubled Collard and with a significantly smaller red band on its chest, this bird presents as a usual sunbird with a long slender bill. Its harsh 'chee-chee' call is a regular sound in the gardens around the cape and this one is taking advantage of a water sprinkler as the long hot dry summer comes to an end.

Habitat:

Endemic to costal, Karoo and fynbos scrub and forest
