Harmonia axyridis
A female, laying her eggs in a crevice in tree bark. This tree has lots of ladybug eggs on it, in little groups spread out on its bark and leaves. I observed this ladybug for about 20-30 minutes, as she wandered around the tree trunk looking for a suitable spot. Once she found this one, she explored the crevice for several minutes, walking back and forth and exploring it. She was very choosy (understandably). Finally, she laid 18 bright yellow, oblong eggs. Then she left and started walking quickly up the tree.
Tree on quad at Emory. (I don't know the species.)
