Rat Tailed Maggot/Drone Fly Larva

Description:

grayish brown with antennas, plump body and a tail or flagellum or SOMETHING, not even sure if it's actually a living thing THAT'S why I'm here

Habitat:

I found it in my kitchen sink

Notes:

I saw this in my sink and couldnt figure out if it was a peice of food or an organism or what, so I turned it over...and I'm pretty sure i saw it's tail(?) move when I did. So I decided to bring it here.

Very interesting!

It's been raining a lot lately and there are many places outside where larvae like these might survive, I got a stomach bug recently and now I'm wondering if it's related

Strange, I hope someone identifies it.

Not a pretty name but fairly descriptive. The larvae are usually found in stagnant aquatic environments with high organic content. The "tail" is actually a breathing apparatus, like a snorkel.

'Rat Tailed Maggot'...not really a pretty name is it?

Huh...it does...there's a window nearby so that would make sense. I thought I was just seeing things lol
