Adiantum capillus-veneris
Adiantum capillus-veneris, the Southern Maidenhair Fern, Black Maidenhair Fern, and Venus Hair Fern, is a species of ferns in the genus Adiantum with a subcosmopolitan worldwide distribution. It is cultivated as a popular garden fern and houseplant. Source: Wikipedia. Maidenhair Fern's fan-shaped fronds are made up of small triangular pinnules (leaflets), and the fronds branch from dark thin stalks.
We have this in the garden, in Biñan Laguna, Philippines. From Wikipedia: The fern is listed as an endangered species in North Carolina (as southern maidenhair-fern) and threatened species in Kentucky (as venus hair fern), due to loss of Appalachian habitat.

Agnes, I'm pretty sure that's an Adiantum sp. but I don't think we have that particular species here. View http://picasaweb.google.com/barceljf/Phi... for pictures of Philippine Ferns and Lycophytes. Ma'am Julie Barcelona was or is still probably the curator of ferns in the national museum.:)
