Kori Bustard

Ardeotis kori

Description:

Standing from just under 3 feet to almost 5 feet tall, the Kori bustard is the largest of the flighted birds.

Habitat:

chobe

Notes:

We were in a group tour - 13 of us, generally divided 6/7 between the lovely large open vehicle. During this period our vehicle mates heard Kori Bustard as Gory bastard and spent half the drive chuckling. Finally our guide grabbed the field book, opened it up and demanded I hand it back to them. There were more titters and some blushing from those seated behind me. Absolutely one of the best non-animal moments of the trip :) The 4 of them were not bird people. But somehow, during the trip(I think that's why we got paired with them for such a long span) they suddenly became bird people and were demanding stops for every lilac breasted roller - which unfortunately, the best shots had been left behind in kruger
