Assassin Bug

Pselliopus sp

Description:

Assassin bug of about 18mm body length. Black with orange markings and bands on the legs; protonum has two lateral spines. I'm not sure what was going on... it seems that a small caterpillar was latched on to the bug's rostrum (close crop in picture #3). Might be a Pselliopus sp.

Habitat:

Found among low vegetation on the way to the "Rostro Maya" in San Juan La Laguna, Lake Atitlán.
