Great Blue Heron

Description:

Large heron with yellow bill, white face with long black feathers over the eye. White down the front of neck and brown grey on the rest of the neck and back. Black shoulders, dark grey wings with long plumes on breast and back. Long legs. Most people know they feed on fish, crusteceans, lizards and snakes. But I've photographed these birds eating large crawdads and gophers.

Habitat:

Usually found near any water but also can be found in fields.
