Grey Bush Chat (Female)

Saxicola ferreus


Grey colored small bird. Whitish underpart with grey breast and flanks. Eye,beaks and legs black. Mae has white supercillium and dark mask. Female has buff supercillium contrasting with dark brown ear-coverts. Rufous rump and tail sides.


Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest-sand subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Food - mainly insects, including beetles and grasshoppers, also spiders and small molluscs; occasionally seeds.


Other common names: Dark-grey Bush-chat, Iron-grey Bushchat. Bengali name - Kaalo Fidda (কালো ফিদ্দা)
