Moth

Description:

THis moth was so very different from the brown ones we saw but it insisted on sitting put half inserted into the gap between two bamboo poles (the wall of our cottage). It has an attractive checked pattern and the colour is orange-ish. In the middle is a white patch that really looks like another moth in flight.

Habitat:

Village Kolakham; a remote, forested area at an altitude of 1868m in the Kalimpong Hills of Darjeeling District, on the fringes of Neora Valley National Park.

Notes:

We blew gently on it; touched it lightly with twigs etc., i.e., troubled it a bit...but no go.
