Cocoon

Description:

Papery...like dried petals. very light. Compact.

Habitat:

I had unlocked the back door to oil the hinges/bolt/locks and realized there was a lot of dirt in the space where the bolt enters the wall ...found two house gecko eggs (fell and smashed before I could react; sorry) and this lovely cocoon. The last photo shows it in the palm of my hand and gives an idea about the size. It was dry and felt very light. Did the caterpillar crawl in. make a cocoon and die? I donot know. There are no exit holes. I have placed it in the open and a dry place.
