Description:

Although they are pollinators of passion fruit, carpenter bees are often considered pests in Hawaii due to their nesting behavior, which involves burrowing holes in wood. Females are black with stingers and larger than males.

Habitat:

Spotted at Ala Wai Community Gardens.
