Poke weed

Habitat:

In un-mowed section of a hay field

Notes:

The berries are mildly poisonous (but not deadly). Be aware that the berries's bright colors are very attractive to children... The leaves are apparently edible however, if properly prepared. I've heard the berries can also be used for dye.

I'm cultivating areas of this plant in my yard for food and medicine. You do have to know what you're doing, however, if you ingest it: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=...
