Small brown frog. About half an inch. Good camoflogue.
Ponds. Woodlands. Creeks.
It's under the rock.
I could not find it under the rock but I know it is not a spring peeper because there are none in California. The only species you could have mistaken it for is the pacific tree frog a very common frog which has a rang from Baja to Alaska, unlike the spring peeper which is not found west of the rockies.
