Sonoran Gopher Snake

Pituophis catenifer affinis

Habitat:

Desert road

Notes:

My 1,100th spotting! We saw it as it was nicked by a car while crossing a road. We pulled over and I got it out of the road, photographed it, and let it go behind a bush. It had a small injury which is visible in the second photo towards the loop in its body. A very striking feature of this reptile is the different colored tail (as shown in pic. 3).
