Mexican free-tailed bat

Tadarida brasiliensis

Description:

There were a lot of gray-brown bats in the overhead cracks of a tunnel. They were quite vocal while I surveyed the wildlife tracks. They have been previously observed trapping and eating prey on the ground. Images 2-4 are of two cracks that I edited to be next to each other for better viewing. The guano can be seen at: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/150...

Habitat:

Wildlife transect tunnel in chaparral.
