Eastern Comma

Polygonia comma

LivanEscudero 4 years ago

Looking closer at pic #3 underwing. I'm going to say Eastern Comma, like Leanne. There are none of the green markings toward the edge. And it has a lot more light brown markings and a more curvy comma than the gray.

Eastern Comma - Polygonia comma. Pretty sure, the small white mark in the profie photo gives a clue with the strong dark brown contrast. Green Comas have a green tinge in the profile.

well, here's another choice, the Green Coma. It's common in Iowa and the dark edges around the wings are a good field identification clue.

This is a tough one! I agree with Livan. I am leaning towards Eastern Comma, but I am not totally sure on it.

I don't think it's the Question Mark, but can't decide between Eastern and Gray Comma.
