Gumboot Chiton

Cryptochiton stelleri

Description:

The largest chiton I have ever seen. It was alive, but definitely not in good shape. I found it on the beach covered in sand, but still slightly moving. I put it in a tide pool in the hopes that it would survive, but I'm not sure if it was too late.

Habitat:

Sandy beach
