Regal Horned Lizard - Female

Phrynosoma solare

I was thrilled to capture and photograph this incredible lizard! When I first captured her, she flattened out like a wafer. It was an interesting defense mechanism. Their most notorious defense is squirting blood from their eyelids to shock attackers. This individual did not eject any blood at me. I have more views of the crown, vent, and back pattern here.
