It is sitting on a pumpkin. a pumpkin with an unusual texture on the skin.

Beautiful moth and series. It amazes me how pretty nature is. I see that you found it on a pumpkin, but (like LarsKorb) I'm curious about what it is sitting on in the picture. It looks like a really cool large rock.
