Moves very slow and eats smaller insects.

They are not aquatic, but instead live in rotting vegetation, dung and compost.
There are other insects that have aquatic larvae like some crane flies. Some are even predatory, though many just eat rotting vegetation. http://bugguide.net/node/view/267485/bgi...
