Field Cricket ( Female )

Gryllus pennsylvanicus

Description:

Around 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon, I went into the garage, to take out a bag of garbage, and to put it into a large garbage container. After doing this, I then turned my flashlight on, and I started walking around the garage, looking for insects to photograph. I spotted one expired insect, lying on the garage floor, right next to one of the large, garbage containers. I then brought this expired insect into my house, so I could take some photos of it. This insect is a female, as it had a long ovipositor. This insect, is seven eights of an inch long, and three eights of an inch wide.

Habitat:

I spotted this expired insect, lying on the garage floor, right next to one of the large, garbage containers.

I don't know the scientific name of this insect, but it is a cricket. We have those in Washington State. I love listening to them in the evening, because it seems that is when they are active. They rub their two hind legs together and makes sounds with them.
