Victoria amazonica
In almost a week on the Amazon and higher confluent rivers we only saw patches of this water lily species twice, both times in small populations densely associate with individual flowers in bloom. The leaves in one population with in great condition, in a second population insects had largely riddled the leaves of most plants.
