Coyote

Canis latrans

Description:

I saw two of them running in a cow pasture on the way out of Tomales Point and one of them standing alone near a cliff in the grassland on the Tomales Point trail. These were the only mammals I saw on this trail besides elk, although I did see many burrows that looked like they belonged to some sort of rodent hare or badger-sized I'd guess), which might have been a food source for the coyotes.

Habitat:

Cow pasture and the Tomales Point trail, Point Reyes National Seashore
