Giant Red Velvet Mite

Description:

Mites are an order of arachnid that are very tiny. This species is very large for a mite, I was able to see it walking around on the ground when I wasn't even looking! Bright red all over.

Habitat:

Saw this little guy walking around in oak leaves in a moderately wooded forest at a city park.
