Description:

The adult shell size for this species varies between 22 mm and 120 mm. Is a species of predatory sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Muricidae, the rock snails.

Habitat:

Costa rocosa de Cabo de Palos. Mar Mediterráneo.

Notes:

Tiene una característica especial, es decir que sueltan un líquido de color púrpura (azul violáceo), este color era utilizado por los romanos e indicaba poder. Uno de los lugares donde se podía encontrar este molusco en la antigüedad era la Isla de Lobos, este islote se encuentra en las islas Canarias.
