A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Junco hyemalis
The back is slate gray, belly and underside of tail are white, which is very distinctive. The beak is short and pink. In flight, we see white feathers on the sides of the tail. Some individuals have white stripes on the wings. The female is similar but a duller shade.
Lives in forests, parks, countryside and suburbs frequent during migration. Present throughout Québec, except the Arctic.
