Lesser Goldfinch - female

Spinus psaltria

Description:

Small slender bird. Splash of yellow on breast. wing bars visable. It was collection battling from my worn lawn chair cushions, suspecting nest building in progress

Habitat:

Central California valley... Stockton Delta... Urban backyard

Notes:

I think this is the same bird I posted in December 2013.... Bell's vireo, ruby crowned Kinglet and orange warbler were suggested with skepticism as the photo's were poor. Thanks again Ashley

The pattern on the wing is pretty diagnostic for lesser goldfinch

Looks like one of the juvenile buntings or grosbeaks.
