Virginia Pepperweed

Lepidium virginicum

Description:

Another “weed” that’s new to my back yard. Mounding white, small bud, flowering plant with slim stalks and leaves. Approximately 1.5-2ft around and high in unobstructed conditions (I’ve seen it stalky and 1.5-2in high without mounding in crowded beds also). Stalks produce flowery tips with 1/4 cm round (or smaller) flower heads with disc shaped protrusions (seeds?) below. Stalks become woody and hard to remove over time. This seems to only be present in above ground beds with introduced soil from last fall.

Habitat:

West central ga. Cataula, harris co, ga.
