Northern cardinal

Cardinalis cardinalis

Description:

This North American Northern cardinal is always a joy to see. There were several at Kinder Farm park. They also come to my backyard feeder. You can't miss the male's bright red color, their wonderful songs (both male and female sing), and they are year-round residents. The females are light brown with a reddish tinge on their crests, wings and tails. An interesting fact is that the Northern Cardinal is the state bird of seven states, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia, which is more than any other bird.

Habitat:

This northern cardinal was spotted at Kinder Farm Park in Anne Arundel County in Millersville, Maryland
