Giant Water Bug

Lethocerus americanus

Notes:

Tried to attack me! This thing was scary, as I'm not very good with beetle-type bugs! It was totally unafraid of me and both of my dogs. When we got close to it, it bounced up and down, made a clicking sort of sound and then started flexing its pincers. Then, when I shined a flashlight on it, it flew at me (well, come to find out, it was flying at the flashlight but I didn't know that!), and the resulting screams were pretty comical!
