Firebug

Pyrrhocoris apterus

Description:

A bunch of firebugs grouped together in the shape of a heart, romantically spotted on the date we got engaged. Nice little "approval" from nature for our future plans...

Habitat:

The base of a tree trunk very close to Agamon HaHula, a rain-flooded area of the Hula Valley which acts as a "pit stop" for migrating birds on their way from Europe to Africa and back and home to many of Israel's native birds.

Notes:

Spotted in the Hula Nature Reserve in northern Israel
