My Family has a farm and have Guinea Hens with their chickens for that very reason, and plus they are more aggressive so raccoons think twice about going near the pen.

Correct, Guinea Hen. Certain residents with farms use them for lessening the tick population. Thwy love'em! Like chickens, not too smart either.

I think it's a Guinea Fowl, must be an escaped pet, surely is not native to New York! I've seen escaped Peacocks and Chickens once.
