Description:

These black flies are everywhere you see flowers. They form large clouds over the salmonberry bushes that they appear to be pollinating

I often find these on salmonberry flowers and pushkie flowers

I've seen the females, and they have a bit of red on them. I think maybe Bibio vestitus. I will have to upload more pictures of them to check against bugguide.

Maybe a March Fly (Bibio sp.)? They can swarm. They are dimorphic, so males and females look different. This looks like a male. Not sure which species, maybe Bibio albipennis?
