Rhetus arcius castigatus
Amazing butterfly. Medium size, beautiful blue colors, orange and pink spots at base of lighter blue long tails, white stripes across the wings, 2 red spots at base of the blue head, dark blue with white stripes under wings. I have been looking for it to get better pictures for ID, but I saw it two days in a row in July and that was it.
A bit late.... but Thank you, Adarsha B S and JillBlack.
Thank you Ashish Nimkar, Sukaina and Noel Buensuceso
Yes, Bayucca, I saw it now. I had seen the pinned specimen, only, and it has just a very faint orange shade.
You are no pain, you are a nice and wonderful spotter with some exciting bugs to ID... The ID is sometimes a pain...
Just call it Arcius Swordtail. Longtail Metalmark is a little bit too general.
bayucca, sorry, I did not see your ID...and you are right!! it is a Rhetus arcius castigatus, you know I am a "pain'' by now... so do I name it, Long Tail Metalmark or Arcius Swordtail??!!
Sergio, take a link at my link and you see the same bicolored "u".

This beauty telling this is heaven...where we stay... Great Organism...and Great colour combination from Central America..... Thank you Gilma... for sharing on Project Noah... Simply precious.
Well, I have to go with Bayucca. Rhetus arcius seems to be the right choice.
Thank you for the ID, asergio.
Rhetus Arcius Butterfly due to the spot at base of tails goes across each tail and it has the two white lines across the wings also the red spots side of the head. What do you think?
