Elhamma australasiae
A handsome brown moth with shades of purple through the wings which have a span of 40 mm. The wings are tented up over the body and show minute dark brown circular patterns. This broad white upside down"V" -shaped mark on each fore wing and feathery antennae indicate that this is a male moth. The thorax and legs are covered with short dense setae.
Spotted under bright lights near a national park
Larvae of these moths feed on grass (Poaceae). This is the first one I've spotted this year ! Family: Hepialidae

At last. They're late this year. Maybe the lack of rain lately?
