Cethosia cyane
Orange, yellow black and white butterfly/moth. Its 'inside' coloring looked completely different than its "outside" coloring. It was about 10 cm in wingspan and very restless.
Our garden bush in Rasada Phuket Thailand. Close to mangroves and jungle.
I saw this butterfly on a newly planted bush that attracted lots of different moths and butterflies. So I went outside to take its picture when it closed its wings and I was AMAZED. It was like someone had made a stunning marble-ing picture. It was just so gorgeous and so unexpectedly different than its outer wings.
This is a butterfly, not a dragonfly. Currently one species ID suggestion, six favorites, and four comments -- you'd think someone would have suggested removing this spotting from the "Global Dragonflies & Damselflies" mission!
Lovely Lacewing butterfly, thanks for sharing such a beauty.
Thank you Urifah. I am doubting a bit which picture to put on the front page. The inner wing or the outer wing? Anyone suggestions?
